Find the IP of the DNS Server

To find out the IP address of the DNS server to use on your EC2 instance,

  1. Go to VPC in AWS services and locate the base of your VPC IP address range. For example, 172.31.0.0/16.

  2. Add 2 to the base IP address range. The resulting IP address is your DNS. For example, base VPC IP address range + 2 = 172.31.0.0 + 2 = 172.31.0.2 = DNS server.
